24hrs to Challenge Cancer – 2025

Due to a number of factors out of the team’s control we have regretfully and sadly taken the decision to postpone the event for this year and plan to return in 2026
On June 14th & 15th 2025 we will once again be swimming for 24hrs and WE NEED YOUR HELP. Come and join us by swimming and help as we fundraise for Cancer Research UK and St Francis Hospice in Romford. Over the last 2 years a number of our own swim community at Luxborough Lake have been deeply affected by Cancer at different stages, some are still currently living with Cancer and sadly we have seen 2 of our much loved swimmers pass away, and we are asking you to show your support and join us for this mammoth swim.
- There will be 24 x 1hr swim waves beginning at 11am on Saturday 14th June. Each swim wave will begin on the hour every hour.
- Swimmers will be allowed to complete any distance between a simple dip in the lake up to 2,000m.
- There is no limit on how many swim waves you can sign up for but if you are signing up for consecutive waves you will need to be out of the water and checked back in before beginning another wave.
- Junior swimmers are very welcome to get involved. There is a minimum age of 12yrs old for this event. Junior swimmers will not be allowed to participate during the hours of 9pm – 6am.
- Night time swimmers will be required to swim with a tow float that has a light attached to it

We will also be sharing details of an online donation page set up for this event and would ask all swimmers to please share this with their communities.

What else do I need to know?
We will be attempting to create a real atmosphere at the venue and would ask you to make an effort to join us. For those swimmers attempting to swim through the night there will be the option to set up a tent/gazebo so you can be comfortable. There will also be a raffle ongoing across the weekend with some super prizes.
